Acquired Factor X Deficiency Associated with Systematized Amyloidosis - A Report
نویسنده
چکیده
C OAGULATION DEFECTS due to the lack of a single blood clotting factor are almost exclusively congenital and symptoms appear in early life. Acquired defects other than iatrogenic are usually the result of liver dysfunction and in such cases more than one clotting factor is depressed. A case of selective factor X deficiency developing in middle life and associated with extensive amyloidosis has recently been described.’ The present report concerns a middle-aged man who presented with spontaneous bruising of 3 months duration; the abnormal bleeding tendency was due to a pure factor X deficiency, and tile patient was subsequently found to have systematized amyloidosis.

متن کاملA case report of temporary and acquired vitamin K-dependent clotting factor deficiency without any response to administrated vitamin K
Abstract Background and Objectives Vitamin K-dependent clotting factor deficiency (VKCFD) is usually an acquired problem due to liver disease, malabsorption, and overdose of warfarin. In the present paper the significance and role of vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors in menorrhagia were evaluated. Case We present a rare case of 43 year woman with acquired vitamin K deficiency and se...
متن کاملAcquired Factor X Deficiency in Light Chain Amyloidosis: A Report of 2 Korean Cases
Amyloidosis is a heterogeneous group of diseases in which misfolding of extracellular proteins is the pathogenic factor. Light chain amyloidosis (AL) is the most common form of amyloidosis, and the causative proteins in AL are the immunoglobulin light chains produced by clonal plasma cells. Hemorrhagic events, ranging from mild subcutaneous hemorrhage to life-threatening bleeding, account for a...
متن کاملSpontaneous perinephric hematoma due to acquired factor X deficiency in AL amyloidosis
Spontaneous perinephric hematoma (SPH) is a rare entity whose diagnosis is challenging because of its varied clinical presentation and lack of any specific etiology. We report a 34-year-old African-American male who presented with left flank pain and was found to have a large left perinephric hematoma, in the setting of undiagnosed AL amylodosis. The case illustrates that while a SPH due to the...
متن کاملAcquired-transient factor X deficiency in a teenager with extensive burns.
Acquired factor X deficiency is an extremely rare situation. It has shown to be associated with systemic amyloidosis, respiratory mycoplasma infection, factor X inhibitors, antiphospholipid antibodies, vitamin K deficiency/liver disease as well as the use of certain medications (meropenem, valproic acid). The pathogenesis and transient nature of this deficit remain poorly understood. The author...
